I do not understand how davfs2 is related with your sshfs.

This aside:
To authenticate with the WebDAV-server davfs2 needs the password - unencrypted! So if you store the WebDAV-password in encrypted form, what do you suggest how davfs2 will get the password that is needed to decrypt the WebDAV-password?

Either the user has to type a password whenever he mounts a WebDAV file system or an unencrypted password is stored somewhere. No magic available.

[field #13]                  Summary: Allow encrypted password in ~/.davfs2/secrets

[field #14]      Original Submission: I manage a server where users mount sshfs volumes and have their authentication credentials in `~/.davfs2/secrets`.

The "problem" is that, in `secrets`, the password is entered in plain text, so, aside possible security issues, it's a big "responsibility" for me (root) to have access to their passwords.

Isn't possible to use sshfs with pre-encrypted passwords, so that only the encrypted version is stored in `secrets` ?
