Thank you for reporting the problem. It is appreciated. Initially I thought it was just git shallow clones (--depth 1) that were failing and I had pushed this back in the queue of broken things to fix that were less urgent after other things due to the IP subnet migration to the new network. That was a mistake as this was preventing write access and should have been very urgent. Sorry. It's been a long two days. The migration is mostly complete now.

The root cause was that the nfs mountd on the backend was not connecting to the database server for account data via libnss. It was the libnss-mysql part that was failing. Confusing because it was working when testing it but apparently not working at the instant that the nfs mountd was initially started and this was a sticky state. Therefore ids were not getting mapped. Therefore write access was not being allowed. Restarting the nfs mountd got this working again. Unmounting the NFS mount on the client and remounting it finished it.

Please try it again. It should be working for you now.

I have been trying to figure this problem out for the last bit too. I will update this as soon as I figure it out.

I suggest bookmarking this URL:

It currently says "7h ... is going down for maintenance" which I take it means that they've been doing sysadmin work for seven hours and things are not fully working yet.

I already pushed 10 git commits to the git repository of the 'gnulib' project today. But now, for another commit, I get a failure:

$ git push
Counting objects: 6, done.
Delta compression using up to 4 threads.
Compressing objects: 100% (6/6), done.
Writing objects: 100% (6/6), 869 bytes | 0 bytes/s, done.
Total 6 (delta 5), reused 0 (delta 0)
remote: error: insufficient permission for adding an object to repository database ./objects
remote: fatal: failed to write object
error: unpack failed: unpack-objects abnormal exit
To ssh://
! [remote rejected] master -> master (unpacker error)
error: failed to push some refs to 'ssh://'

Nothing has changed in my environment.
