New default value for option weechat.plugin.extension is ".so,.dll".
weechat.conf has an option 'extension', on windows, its setting is ".dll", on unix is ".so", due to weechat is portable, so users may likely try to ln -s .weechat on windows (fat filesystem) into unix filesystem, then the windows weechat.conf will make weechat not usable on unix. It would be solved if 'extension' supports to specify multiple suffixs, say, ".dll,.so", or there are "win32.extension" and "unix.extension" options.
