The radial profile script has all the components necessary to also generate a 2D polar plot. It is essentially a re-gridding of the pixels of the input in a new image such that the the horizontal axis shows the azimuthal angle and the vertical axis shows the radius. For example, see the attached image (shown in the comment above). |

How about times when the user asks for a plain-text table as the output format (for example '--output=profile.txt'). A plain-text file does not support multiple extensions. Maybe in such a case, you can add a '-polar' before the suffix of the output and generate two files. What do you think?
