s it possible to scale images inserted into the layout, short of saving the original file to a different resolution before using it with Therion?

I notice that when map-image inserts pdf files (say of an elevation into a plan) all of the layers and text meta data is stripped out.
Is it possible to keep this data so that searching of text and layer visibility remains controlable for the inserted pdf image?
