trying to use a external usb drive in bad state, I got this in dmesg:
hub 2-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using address 5
usb 2-1: not running at top speed; connect to a high speed hub
usb 2-1: config 1 descriptor has 1 excess byte, ignoring
kmem_cache_create: duplicate cache scsi_cmd_cache
