Yes I have the same problem similarly only OSD doesnt seem to work. But it happens only when I resume from a suspend/hibernate. I am using the 2.6.16-r9 patched with Suspend2 sources.

Running the watch command nvram does not seem to change.

Only way to get it working is doing a system restart.

Yes; I have had a very similar problem. However, I don't think it's a TPB problem. I have a T21 with the 2.6.something kernel. The problem is that after a time (like 5 or 10 min usually) the /dev/nvram (which TPB checks for button presses) stops changing when I push volume or brightness or any such special buttons. It seems like the nvram module has crashed or something.

When the nvram device is working properly I can see changes with: the command
'watch --differences=cumulative -n 0 xxd /dev/nvram'

Also when nvram stops chaning I can no longer swap to CRT. The volume, brightness, thinklight, and suspend still work but there is no on screen indicators. The switch to CRT, turn off backlight, and hibernate to disk buttons and fn's do not work.

Very odd that it should work so sporadically. After nvram fails I have found no way to get it working again other than to restart. rmmod nvram and modprobe nvram does not help.

I have old Thinkpad A21M and use tpb. With 2.4.x kernel without ACPI all works. But with 2.6.x and ACPI all works but after aprox 5min tpb stop responding i I strace tpb I don't see any wrong things. Have anybody the same  experience ?
