This is "fixed" in mainline. It does give a proper error message now, but not a very good one.

(Note, it's the server that needs to be upgraded for this to work.)

I don't know if netsync is sending across any information which would allow for a more informative error message, but "I/O failure" is a kind of poor way of telling the user "write access denied".

I was running ethereal trying to debug my network connection when I finally realized I wanted "mtn pull". :/
