I've tested this with Tutka 1.0.x by blacklisting the snd-seq-midi and snd-seq-midi-event modules. Tutka didn't crash - there just weren't any MIDI interfaces. If this is still a problem, please reopen and provide some more information.

there is no check if midi->port valid in midi_close

Oops. My bad. It actually is working now, but I didn't have the ALAS midi sequencer module loaded to my kernel (snd-seq-midi). I guess it shouldn't crash when I do that though. I'll attach the output from Tutka that I got, and the previously submitted backtrace is of course also relevant.

It seems like it's still crashing, but at a different point in the code. I have attached a backtrace.

0.12.4 is now out. Could you try it out if it fixes this problem?

No, the CVS version does not require any additional libraries in comparison to 0.12.3. And yep, bug 16298 mentions AMD64, but I guess it's more related to some threading changes in glibc or behavioural changes in gtk+ than the processor architecture. For some reason some gtk+ callbacks get called earlier than I was expecting them to be since I've never seen that behaviour on my own system.

About 0.12.4 - yes, I'll release it very soon. There is at least one more bug I need to fix first though (related to rendering of the tracker widget).

It seems like I need some libraries from Gnome CVS to use the CVS version? I'll see if I can get those installed first. I'm not running on an AMD64 by the way. I have a Pentium M.

I had the same problem and CVS version fixes it. Time for 0.12.4 release?

This is probably a duplicate of bug 16298. Could you test the CVS version to see whether it works?

Tutka 0.12.3 crashes at startup on my system. If I run it regularly, I get an error dialog saying "The Application "Tutka" has quit unexpectedly." I also ran it through gdb and got the attached backtrace. I browsed through the source a bit, and couldn't find where editor->song got initialised. I added a line:
editor->song = song_alloc();
right after line 51 in editor.c, and that seemed to fix the problem. It made most sense to me to put it there. It puzzles me that other people haven't had this problem. Perhaps my system just is a bit more picky about uninitialised structures.
