When I increase the polling time (--poll=1000000), the cracking sound is not as bad. I am not able to log in to savannah for some reason.

I have the same problem with kernel 2.6.4. I only notice it when I am using Gstreamer in Gnome and only through the oss-emulation. I'm using Alsa drivers from the kernel.

Hmmm. I have no problems with cracking noise here. But I know, this doesn't help you :)
Can you please increase the polling time (e.g. --poll=1000000) and report if the cracking sound changes?

Hi,

it seems, that I have found a bug about tpb.
Everytime when I play .mp3- or .wav-files, there is a strange "cracking" noise in the background when tpb is active.
This occurs either with xmms and with mpg123 (other programs not tested). Even when I start tpb when a soundfile is playing, the noise occurs; when I kill it, the noise stops.
The noise sounds a little bit like the cracking on old vinyl-disks...

My configuration: Thinkpad ;-) (T20), LFS-System with kernel 2.4.19, gcc 3.2

Thank You,

Christoph
