(rms asked me to make sure his bug reports to the mailing list got into the bug tracking system)

It seems like a bunch of applications, including qiv, xcdroast, and sometimes gnome itself assume they have at least a 1024x768 screen; on a netbook screen such as they yeeloong's, which is 1024x600, some buttons or other GUI elements are cut off, making it impossible (or at least very hard) to perform some actions.

Here is the report on qiv: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.gnewsense.devel/1814

For xcdroast I have some ugly scripts for rms that run it inside a vncserver session that then starts up a vnc client that can scroll.

Note that with the old "real" X server the X server scroll function worked; but I haven't been able to get that to work with the frame buffer X server, and have seen doc that implies it is not possible with the frame buffer server. But if we get a working accelerated X server, using that (with some simple UI) would be the best thing to do.
