Would this be helpful for the cross-platform OpenGL compatibility issue?

I just finished recompiling it.  We changed a compiler setting and gchempaint now works as expected, but still nothing on gchemtable.

Meanwhile I'll try and get actual debug logs of the other issues ready.  Also, I'm trying to see how other ports deal with OpenGL +quartz issues, so far the only one I've found is webkit-gtk +quartz just disables the OpenGL components at compile time.

Actually, the option does not exist at the moment. If it helps you, I'll manage to add it before next release.

I'll try that.

May be the correct option would be --without-glx.
Although the good fix for your issue would be to make opengl work on all platforms, this should not be very difficult, I just miss documentation.

Do all of the gchemutils programs require OpenGL?  Would it be possible to build some of them without OpenGL?

Is it possible to modify the config script to give options such as:

—with-gchempaint
—without-gcrystal

and so on?

The reason for my asking is that perhaps this will allow me to provide a subset of gnome-chemistry-utils on macports that compiles/runs with the +quartz −x11 environment.  At least until a good solution for compiling OpenGL things without X11 is found for that.
