(1) I have portable builds

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pQkA_v9HsJJjYrM_TZ1hsYvUVLeDOc8O/view?usp=sharing

File boswars_win64.7z contains win64 executable, compiled with Msys2 (and also Debian 11 Stable build, working on Debian 12 too, I have linked it against luajit)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H6COJR-jdGrXFpzBaFZRrawk0pHMxHpz/view?usp=sharing

File boswars_win32.7z contains win32 executable compiled with old Msys and working on Windows XP SP3 but Open GL is broken (and also ... )

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jRfRQLYjUx_Td-jqV9Z99PVCiE7cIeyd/view?usp=sharing

File boswars_ide.7z contains source code with dependencies and CodeBlocks projects for win32 Msys, win64 Msys2, linux amd64 (based on VS project). Scons build system is removed for simplicity - this file only for GPL license requirements. Source code based on before development restarted - any new changes are not used, but I made some changes, required for compilation on Msys & Msys2 platforms.

(2) How I see on CodeBerg , SDL2 port is started by project leader. So I will not continue my work in this context. Fork also now is not the option.

P.S.
Sorry for my English ...

Since a couple of days, Bos Wars migrated to Git. You can see it on https://codeberg.org/boswars/boswars  There, you can create pull requests, browse the code, report issues, view changes and so on.

Ok, I am glad something is going on.

To be honest, I did not engage in this project due to its lack of "agile" tooling. I am often working on PCs which are not mine and lack any SW support for development.

So having something independent from the PC itself - like GitHub - where one can socially engage with a wider community, post screenshots, music pieces, report bugs easily with rich content by default, submit publicly visibly drafts of pull requests for early feedback & suggestions, review existing pull requests, merge pull requests, etc. would be an enormous advantage.

@Valters in case you will fork this repo at some point to gain traction, feel free to post a link here so that me and others can join your fork and perhaps some time later submit the changes back to this original savannah repo which will presumably maintain much lower pace of development.

Btw. regarding conversion of all PNGs it sounds like it could be done fully automatically with a one-liner in bourne shell using e.g. GraphicsMagick:

find . -type f -iname '*.png' -execdir mv -- {} {}.bak00.png \; -execdir gm convert -- {}.bak00.png {} \;

The game is being worked on now, mostly fixing and getting everything accessible again. Help is of course welcome as there's a lot to do. For example, some open source music would be great or testing the current development version.

How I see project is not active ...
Game now has about final state, but need some optimizations (see the bug track), but the most problem is: migration to SDL2.
Without this, game code is obsolete. But it is not hard but "massive" work - will take a long time to do.
Also png format now changed, and all png images should be renewed  (simply loaded and saved by GIMP or something else)

May be fork is the right decision ...

P.S.
From my point of view:
(1) should change build system for something more common (I have my own custom portable builds for Linux Debian (11), Windows XP (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit) using codeblocks projects, but not published them )
(2) path finder should be rewritten to be simpler, not so smart and stupid at the same time;
(3) should be optimized AI - 100% CPU usage with large games with a lot of units, and it is not graphic rendering problem (if render not render not visible units)
(4) game editor should be improved ...
What should not do:
(1) update Lua version: all are supported now, and on Linux with LuaJit.

I am not  professional programmer - I am music teacher from Latvia ...
May be I will fork this game on 2023 summer ...

I wonder whether Bos Wars are dormant "forever" or whether there is desire to gain some more publicity to attract new devs and resurrect development?

I think having a repo on GitHub would significantly increase publicity. Together with publishing some new blog posts (on GitHub mainly but also on the bos wars site).

Thoughts?
