I second what anonymous said in comment #3.  I've repeatedly observed this problem and it very much appears to be as he described.  When a building is destroyed a countdown is initiated during which the player whose building was razed cannot begin construction of a new building.  During this countdown that player is also unable to place flags.  This does not seem like an appropriate game mechanic as it makes it hard to respond to an assault as the assaulted player continues suffering more razings and thus continues to be unable to place a flag.  This appears to be a bug.

I've seen this too. I think this comes from the fact that a building just got destroyed: there is some code that prevents making another building too soon and I'm guessing that this code also affects flags. IMO it shouldn't affect flags.

This is with 0.9.4 on debian lenny, compiled it myself.

The system is a desktop box with a mouse (which doesn't even have a scroll wheel). The mouse works because I can click other actions in the game with it at the time of the problem.

It happens seldomly -- I think I didn't see it again after reporting the bug, but I had seen it like 3 or 4 times before that over the course of a few weeks.

My impression is that it happens in the later stages of the game, which on this 2GHz machine means CPU at 100%.

It's the same kind of flag that then starts to work again. And I'm sure it's not a radius=0 issue, since even with a 0 radius there would be the symbol in the middle of the flag.

I've played only local games, so it's in those, no idea if it happens in net games, too.

I will try to keep notes when it occurs again, with things like map played, AIs, etc, to see if there's a pattern...

hi christian

thanx for reporting this bug. as i have no clue what this might be caused by can you please be more precise on your system (windows? laptop? mouse? trackball? wacom pad?) and maybe on when it happens (late in the game? in net games? high cpu usage?)

are you also absolutely sure it is the same kind of flag that alters from broken to working? maybe you have set a radius of 0 for one of the flags making it hard to see? ... i know ... bad guess but i'm clueless here ...

hoping to hear from you,

Leo

From time to time, I can't place flags (explorer, war, clearing) - I click on the symbol, the cursor changes to the flag symbol, I click to place the flag and -- nothing happens.

Then, without any reason I can see (in the same game, i.e. not restarting glob2 or anything), it works again.
