Ironclad's current architecture-independent physical memory allocator goes about its allocating using a bitmap of fixed size blocks, these blocks are usually an extremely inefficient way to allocate smaller-than-block items, which balloons memory usage, by having to use bigger blocks for smaller allocations.
A better alternative approach may be to use instead a slab-based allocator.
