On page 281 in Appendix E there is the following assembly code:

loop_begin:
  movl a, %eax
  movl b, %ebx
  cmpl %eax, %ebx
  jge loop_end
  ...

which should correspond to the C loop:
while (a < b)
{
  /* Do stuff here */
}

I think the operands in cmpl have to be swapped. It should be:
cmpl %ebx, %eax
jge loop_end
