libgnet has been excised from the codebase.

Things are still pretty broken, but at the moment we get as far as a map being successfully sent over the wire.  sitting down and standing up in the lobby is still broken.

Emilio, do you want to do the ligbet to gio migration? Pretty please?

These interfaces are very analagous to gnet:

Although they need to find their way into a packaged version of gtkmm before I adopt them.

Here's the notice of deprecation:

It would definitely be nice to get rid of yet another dependency.

I wonder how similar the APIs are!

This bug isn't affecting anyone in any way yet, so it has to be prioritised with that in mind.

I won't be giving it my attention in the near time frame.

The point is that it's not actively maintained anymore. Also switching to glib (if the glib networking support is enough) would mean reducing the number of dependencies.

I may find the time of doing the migration at some point, but I can't promise anything, so if somebody feels like doing it, please go ahead.

gnet is relatively simple; as long as it's actively maintained I don't see a reason to switch.  I agree it would be good to use something else if gnet is becoming deprecate/abandoned.

Are you a developer? Can you help with migrating the gnet code in lordsawar to libsoup and/or glib?

The gnet library is deprecated upstream, see http://live.gnome.org/GNetLibrary

LordsAWar gnet code should be ported away from gnet, probably to glib and/or libsoup. See the above page for details
