Thanks for the feedback.
I will option username no longer consider experimental and not remove it.

In my opinion 'username' flag should be saved. It is very useful when using libpam-mount to mount davfs2 at login time. If you have desktop login pointing to same LDAP server as Nextcloud or any webdav service you can get single-sign on setup with very small effort.

exsample from /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml

<volume fstype="davfs" path="https://webdav-host/dav" mountpoint="~/webdav" options="username=%(USER),rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=%(USER)">

<not><user>sddm</user></not>
