From the documentation "man davfs2.conf":
The amount of disk space in MiByte that may be used. mount.davfs
will always take enough space to cache open files, ignoring this
    value if necessary.
    Default: 50"

Additionally: Files that have been changed and closed but could not yet be uploaded to the server will also stay in the cache.

What you may try is option "delay_upload 0". davfs2 will try to upload the file as soon as it is closed.

We're using davfs2 for nextcloud/owncloud. It is not clear in the documentation if setting cache_size to 0 will disable caching. It seems it doesn't because we've set cache_size to 0 in the user (~/.davfs2/davfs2.conf) file and in the system-wide configuration file (/etc/davfs2/davfs2.conf) and caching is still present.

Is there a way to completely disable caching?

(Note: upload size limit is set to 16384 kB, after insertion of the required escape characters.)
