ok but I am not sure how you want to do it. do it for one I i will copy the same strategy also for remesh, though at this point it needs to be done also for gts and all the other functions that require external modules
I reopened the bug because the solution is not a (fully) good one. vmtk is not a required dependency of pyFormex, so its functionality should not be included by default. The proper way would be to test for vmtk and only load the functionality if vmtk is present, and adding (or at least enabling) the vmtk menu item in the surface menu from a function in the vmtk_itf module.
in commit b1e2d0b the method is installed in surface_menu.centerline by calling and running install_trisurface_methods from pyformex.plugins.vmtk_itf
The function centerline from the vmtk_itf is not automatically loaded when calling the method TriSurface.centerline, so it gives an error. This can be confusing especially using the GUI option. the plugin vmtk_itf need to be imported first to install centerline as a TriSurface method. Is it meant to be like that, or is it a bug?
