No, it isn't true!
Sendmail-8.11.6-25.72 on my Red Hat Linux release 7.2 box
has milter support! I downloaded also sendmail-devel-8.11.6-
25.72, containing:
 /usr/include/libmilter/mfapi.h
 /usr/lib/libmilter.a
 /usr/lib/libsmutil.a
then I inserted in sendmail.mc also the following line:
 define(`_FFR_MILTER', `1')dnl

All works flawlessy now!

In redhat 7.x versions there is no milter support compiled
in by default. Recompiling sendmail is the only option but
this is no easy job.
If possible I sugest you to upgrade to version 9.

There are prebuild RPMs for readhat 9 available at
www.monshouwer.com/~kees

Hi,
I installed and tested spamassassin (spamd) on a Redhat
7.2 box with Sendmail 8.11.6.
Then I installed SpamAssassin Milter Plugin (as RPM);
in fact I have three processes:
8002 pts/5    S      0:00 spamass-milter -p
/var/run/spamass.sock -f
 8003 pts/5    S      0:00 spamass-milter -p
/var/run/spamass.sock -f
 8004 pts/5    S      0:00 spamass-milter -p
/var/run/spamass.sock -f

plus 'spamd':
8811 ?        S      0:09 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/spamd
-d -c -a -D

I inserted the lines in sendmail.mc as suggested in the
README and recompiled by m4 but resulting sendmail.cf
has no differences with original one.
Where is the problem? Milter plugins are not supporte
din my version of sendmail?
